www.countryacrescamp.comDear Parents,
For nearly three decades, Country Acres Summer Camp has provided a wholesome, recreational environment for children and a trustworthy summertime option for parents. Country Acres is located just north of Kiln, Mississippi, a little over an hour from the New Orleans metro area and minutes from the Gulf Coast. Lenette Ladner, whose camp experience began with Camp Old Hickory of Covington, opened Country Acres in 1982 and has nurtured it into a summertime get-a-way where campers will find the comforts of home while enjoying the outdoors. Working with Lenette since 1986, Colleen Hildebrand brings her experience to her position as camp director. Both Lenette and Colleen are full-time educators during the school year; Lenette serves as principal of East Hancock Elementary School in Kiln, Mississippi, and Colleen teaches English at Fontainebleau High School in Mandeville. Additionally, Country Acres employs qualified counselors, certified lifeguards, and bus drivers to ensure the safety of our campers with a camper to counselor ratio of ten campers per one counselor.
The facilities at Country Acres offer amenities which keep campers comfortable even in the July heat. With air-conditioned bunk rooms, dining area, and game room, campers can relax indoors. Bathroom facilities are equipped with hot and cold running water and provide privacy with individual shower stalls and restrooms, and our dining area allows meals and night-time snacks to be served comfortably. Although campers may choose to purchase drinks such as Powerade, bottled water, or soft-drinks from a vending machine, we also provide a cold water fountain and allow campers to bring snacks and drinks from home (although refrigeration cannot be provided due to limited space).
To enjoy their week at Country Acres, campers should bring towels, sleeping bag/blankets, toiletries, a change of clothes for each day, swim suit, and any other item which will make them feel at home. While I-pods and other electronics are welcome, we emphasize that camp cannot be held responsible for lost or damaged items. Additionally, if your camper has a cell-phone, please check it in with the directors upon arrival. All items should be clearly labeled with the campers name. Please check our website for a more complete list of items and a wealth of additional information about Country Acres.
Country Acres believes in providing children with a safe, physically stimulating and emotionally secure environment. Children need to play, have fun and interact with each other in a non-threatening atmosphere. Country Acres Summer Camp provides campers with an environment which encourages positive behavior and memorable
experiences that last a lifetime.
Sincerely,
Lenette Ladner and
Colleen Hildebrand
