Lenette Ladner Zulli - Owner and Director

Country Acres Summer Camp opened its doors in 1982. After working seven years as a co-director of a camp in Covington, Louisiana, I decided to start a camp on the property that I owned in Kiln, Mississippi. I opened a day camp with a small staff, one school bus, a swimming pool, a pond for canoeing, horses, and lots of space for outdoor activities. It was the beginning of a thirty year journey!

Having majored in Elementary Education, camp was a good fit for me. It has been a source of great reward. I have met so many wonderful children and their parents over the years. When I see a camper during the year and they tell me how much fun they had at Country Acres, I smile with great pride and pleasure knowing that I have given that child memories that will last a lifetime.

I have retired from a 38 year career in Education. I began as a classroom teacher in the St. Bernard Parish school system, moved on to being an elementary school librarian, secondary school guidance counselor, assistant principal in charge of discipline, and completed twelve years as an elementary school principal in Hancock County, Mississippi.

Seeing children experience camp has been a very special part of my life and I hope that I will be able to continue providing that experience for them for many years to come.
